Hondius, built in 2019, is one of the most advanced Polar Class 6 expedition ships in the world, designed for exploratory voyages in both the Arctic and Antarctica. Exceeding Polar Code requirements, she combines operational capability, safety, and modern comfort for authentic expedition experiences.

The ship features a large observation lounge and a separate lecture room for briefings, presentations, and workshops. Despite stylish mid-century-inspired interiors, the atmosphere remains informal and clearly focused on exploration.

Zodiac operations are highly efficient on board. Two separate outdoor gangways, combined with a dedicated indoor Zodiac boarding platform that is also used for activities such as kayaking, allow all passengers to embark and disembark at the same time. This setup ensures fast, well-organized landings and returns, even on a full-capacity voyage.

Advanced stabilizers and twin engines allow comfortable cruising speeds of up to 15 knots, even in demanding polar conditions.

Hondius is environmentally conscious, featuring LED lighting, steam heating, biodegradable paints and lubricants, and advanced power management systems that help reduce fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions, allowing guests to explore remote regions responsibly.

Please note that some cabins may have partially obstructed views. The best wildlife and landscape observation is always from the outer decks or the open bridge.
